Description

Splendid, Near-Gem 1836 Pattern Gold Dollar, Judd-67

1836 Gold Dollar, Judd-67, Pollock-70, R.5, PR 64 NGC. The same design and composition as above. This is an exciting gold pattern that is deeply mirrored in the fields and sharply contrasted with thick mint frost on the devices, yielding an attractive cameo effect. The obverse is essentially of gem quality while the reverse displays a few extra hairlines, too many to qualify as a full gem. Nevertheless, a splendid example of this always-popular gold pattern.
