Very Rare (R.8) White Metal 1836 Two-Cent Pattern

1836 Two-Cents, Judd-56a, Pollock-58, R.8, PR 61, PCGS. Two-cent pattern with a spread-winged eagle on the obverse and date below. The reverse shows TWO CENTS in the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Struck in white metal with a reeded edge. A very rare pattern in this metal and with this edge finish, but largely unappreciated as the last recorded sale in the Pollock reference was in 1984 for only $950. A bit softly struck on the eagle's breast feathers. The surfaces otherwise are a bit dull and there is a long, but shallow, scratch above TWO on the reverse. Lovely pale golden and lilac toning.
