    1855 Large Cent Pattern, Judd-168 Original

    1855 Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-168 Original, Pollock-193, R.4, PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. Large cent pattern with a large eagle flying left on the obverse. The reverse is similar to the adopted Braided Hair cent reverse. Struck in copper or bronze with a plain edge. Fully struck, the peripheries are coppery-orange while the remainder of the coin is deep brown. A couple of carbon spots on the obverse help explain the grade. (NGC ID# 5NSG, PCGS# 60168)
