1859 Half-Dollar, Judd-246, Pollock-304, R.7, PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. A bust of Liberty (the so-called "French Head of Liberty") faces right with a wreath of oak and vine leaves on her head. A ribbon inscribed LIBERTY passes over her right shoulder. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounds the head with 1859 below. The reverse is the Paquet design having the broken or incomplete ribbon in the eagle's beak. The eagle's left wingtip is rounded and 6 tailfeathers are seen. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Bright, copper-red patina is noticed in the protected areas with medium brown muting on the highpoints. The reverse is a bit deeper in color, fading to an irregular olive-gray.
