    Description

1859 Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS 65 PCGS. A transitional pattern with the adopted design of 1860-1909. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Undoubtedly one of the more commonly encountered patterns, but one that is probably closer to R.3 than R.1. Both sides exhibit slightly variegated tan colorations and are well struck. (NGC ID# 29C8, PCGS# 60228)
