    1863 Pattern Dime, Judd-326A

    1863 Ten-Cents, Judd-326A, Pollock-394, R.7, PR 65 NGC. The obverse depicts an ornamental shield with an inverted laurel wreath suspended from a ring. A pair of crossed arrows is behind the shield. The inscription reads EXCHANGED FOR U.S. NOTES. The reverse is inscribed 10 CENTS, 1863, and * POSTAGE CURRENCY * ACT JULY 1862 around. Struck in a billion alloy (25 percent silver, 75 percent copper), with a plain edge. Moderately reflective beneath natural brown and olive-green patina with a hint of red.
