This is a Reverse B coin, from the die used to strike 1867 coins (1866 pieces were struck from Reverse A). Struck in copper with a plain edge. Subdued, deep red is intermixed with brown over the surfaces which also are spotted with carbon on the obverse, this being the primary reason for the grade.
