    Thin Planchet 1868 Three-Cent Nickel Pattern, Judd-615A

1868 Three-Cent Nickel, Judd-615A Thin, Pollock-680, R.6, PR 64 PCGS. The obverse is struck from the adopted three-cent nickel dies, while on the reverse the Roman numeral III has a smooth surface and is surrounded by a wreath of corn, cotton, wheat, and tobacco. The obverse is set on a cent-sized planchet, leaving that side with extra wide borders, but the reverse looks normal. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Lightly spotted and showing a few contact marks, thus the grade. Even golden-brown patina. (NGC ID# 29JG, PCGS# 60615)
