    1869 Pattern Nickel, Judd-684, PR 65

    1869 Five-Cents, Judd-684, Pollock-763, R.5, PR 65 PCGS. The obverse is a variant of the adopted three-cent nickel design, only in a larger format. The reverse has a large Roman numeral V in the center and is surrounded by a laurel wreath, the motto at the top with a Maltese cross above WE. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Just a trifle soft on the hair curls, the surfaces are brilliant throughout. Population: 6 in PR 65, none finer (11/96). (PCGS# 60684)
