Description

PCGS 1869 Ten-Cents, Judd-716A, R.8, PR 63. One of only three pieces known. We were unable to trace which of the three known pieces this one is, but note that there is a small spot above the right upright of N in NIC. and a curved scratch in the right reverse field. The obverse die is similar to the regular design but there is no date in the exergual area. The reverse reads simply SIL./NIC./COP./1869. Struck in silver (rather than Koulz's alloy as the J-716 pieces) with a reeded edge. Lightly toned about the peripheries. There are myriad die polishing marks raised in the fields--a characteristic of all 716A pieces.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 29LC, PCGS# 60716, Greysheet# 12952)
