    Description

1870 Pattern Dime Struck in Silver

1870 Ten Cents, Judd-832, Pollock-922, R.7, PR 63 PCGS. Attributed to William Barber's design, the obverse depicts a seated figure of Liberty facing left and supporting a shield in her right hand, an olive branch in her left. A free-standing liberty pole is present behind the shield. Reverse: the same cereal wreath type used to coin regular issue 1870 dimes. Struck in silver with a plain edge. Deeply mirrored fields, each side is nicely toned in pale golden and deep russet colorations. A few minor hairlines limit the grade. (NGC ID# 93LW, PCGS# 60832)
