    Description

Toned Indian Princess Dollar Pattern, Judd-1014

1870 Dollar, Judd-1014, Pollock-1148, R.6-7, PR 62 PCGS. Seated dollar pattern with Longacre's Indian princess design that shows Liberty seated, left hand resting on a globe, right hand holding a Liberty pole with cap on top, and the conjoined flags of the U.S.A. and C.S.A. behind. The reverse is of the regular issue Liberty Seated dollar. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Rather deep gray and cobalt-blue toning is spread over both sides, but much underlying brilliance glows through the patination. The fields show evidence of cleaning. Still, an attractive example of this lovely, unaccepted design. (NGC ID# 29U6, PCGS# 61014)
