    1878 Standard Dollar Copper Pattern

    1878 Standard Dollar, Judd-1555, Pollock-1734, R.7, PR 64 Red and Brown PCGS. The head of Liberty is large and faces left with IN GOD WE TRUST at the top and the date below. Similar to the pattern fifty dollar gold pieces from 1877. The reverse has a spread winged eagle with E PLURIBUS UNUM in Gothic lettering above. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the top and ONE DOLLAR on the bottom rim. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. An exceptional dollar pattern that exhibits a splotchy brown obverse combined with a much lighter brick-red reverse with violet accents.
