William Barber's Goloid Metric Dollar Pattern in MS 60, Judd-1626

1879 Goloid Metric Dollar, Judd-1626, Pollock-1822, R.6, PR 60 PCGS. A medium gray and golden toned example of William Barber's design for the Goloid Metric dollar. The obverse features a large head of Liberty and is paired with a reverse that carries numerous statutory as well as elemental inscriptions that is broken only by a circle of stars as a decorative device. Allegedly struck in goloid, but indistinguishable from the silver strikings except by elemental analysis, with a reeded edge. Light peripheral toning frames each side with brilliant centers.
