    Description

1879 Washlady Pattern Half Dollar In Silver

1879 Half Dollar, Judd-1597, Pollock-1791, R.6-7, PR 66 NGC. Barber's Washlady motif is featured on the obverse. The head of Liberty faces left with IN GOD WE TRUST above and the date below. The reverse depicts an eagle with spread wings holding an olive branch in one talon and three long, slender arrows in the other. The legends surround the eagle, with the denomination below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This is certainly one of the finest examples of this rare and desirable pattern issue. Deep, original cobalt-blue, violet, crimson, and golden patina has gathered on each side. The surfaces are essentially flawless from years of careful storage. A rare opportunity for the pattern specialist. (NGC ID# 2A8S, PCGS# 61597)
