1882 Gem Proof Liberty Nickel Pattern, Judd-1680

1882 Five-Cents, Judd-1680, Pollock-1882, R.6, PR 65 PCGS. Again, similar in design to the adopted 1883 nickel by Charles Barber, the head of Liberty faces left, with the date below, and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the rims. The reverse has a large Roman numeral V in the center and is surrounded by a wreath of corn and cotton with E PLURIBUS UNUM at the top. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Moderately reflective fields, the surfaces have an overlay of pale rose patina with a hint of lilac. A faint carbon spot is noted at the base of the neck of Liberty. (PCGS# 61680)
