1885 Snowden Dollar, Judd-1748, Pollock-1960, PR 65 Red and Brown NGC. The Experimental Dollar as commissioned by Mint Director Snowden with E PLURIBUS UNUM placed on the edge in raised letters. Struck in copper. Most of the mint red is gone now, replaced by deep brown and steel-blue patina. An attractive piece that only shows two minor surface flaws: a carbon spot above the L in PLURIBUS and a small cluster of contact marks on the upper neck of Liberty.
