Description
PCGS 1854 Large Cent, Judd-161, R.5, PR 65 Brown. Similar to the regular issue Braided Hair design but no obverse stars and a smaller wreath on the reverse. Stuck in bronze with a plain edge. Muted tobacco-brown color with no visible flaws. A very difficult coin to determine its metallic content as bronze coins weigh 96 grains and copper ones weigh 100. What does one call a piece weighing somewhere in between, say 98 grains?
