Description

Charles II "Royal" Cob 8 Reales 1686 P-VR VF35 NGC, Potosi mint, KM-R26 (Rare), Cal-324, Lazaro-216 (R1). 27.10gm. An always coveted sub-series within the broader emissions of the Spanish empire, the 'Royal' 8 Reales are renowned for their careful quality of production and great difficulty to acquire. While seemingly a rather modest grade, this is the only straight-graded specimen from NGC, the type most frequently coming holed, as confirmed by nearly every other example we have been able to locate coming to auction over the last decade. Considerably better struck than the Lazaro plate piece, and a thoroughly laudable representative.
