The Whimsical Inverted Shield
Philip IV Cob 8 Reales 1628 P-T VF Details (Cleaned) NGC,
Potosi mint, cf. Cal Type-327 (no inverted shield option), cf.
Paoletti-176 (same dies). 26.47gm. An interesting representative
with the transposition of the arms of Castile and Leon with
Catalonia, Aragon, and Sicily in the upper half of the shield. With
a partial but discernible 1628 date which provides continuity with
the 1627 example cited in Paoletti, which this piece can be
die-matched with.Metal: Silver
