First Edition. Folio, later 19th-century crimson half morocco, gilt; top page edges gilt. (4), xl, 250, (2) pages; original Avis tipped in; tables; 188 well-engraved plates of coins. Signed by the author on half-title verso. Near fine. Clain-Stefanelli 7876. Engel & Serrure 690. An unusually fine copy of this major work, the standard cambist until superseded in 1849 by an updated work published by the author's nephew. This work was mentioned by Eckfeldt and Du Bois in their introduction to the 1842 Manual of Gold and Silver Coins of All Nations. Estimate $500.
