    Haseltine Works on
    Confederate and Continental Currency

Haseltine, John W. Descriptive Catalogue of Confederate Notes and Bonds, for Sale by John W. Haseltine. Philadelphia, 1876. 36 pages. [bound with] Haseltine, John W. Description of the Paper Money Issued by the Continental Congress of the United States and the Several Colonies. Philadelphia: Sherman & Co., Printers, 1872. 30 pages, blank leaf; 5 photozinchographic process plates of currency. Square 8vo, contemporary red calf-backed marbled boards; spine ruled and lettered in gilt. Two original editions of scarce works by Haseltine on American paper money. The Confederate production was partly a fixed price list, but with an effort on Haseltine's part to have it also serve as a reference to the series. The second work is the first attempt at a comprehensive listing of Colonial and Continental currency, issued in the same year that Haseltine went into business on his own at age 34. He would become the leading authority of his day on the topic. Binding lightly worn; very good or better.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
