Description

João Prince Regent Counterstamped 320 Reis ND (1809) VF (Date Engraved), Bahia mint, KM297, LMB-220. 8.47gm. Displaying shield counterstamp on a Jose I 300 Reis 1756-B (cf. KM178). An already rather scarce host date for this counterstamp, and one which was present in neither the Paulistana nor the Guariba collections. Of particular note is the sharpness of the applied shield mark, and we would state that the re-engraving of the date is quite understandable for a collector who would have wanted to identify the host more easily.
