Description

João V gold 12800 Reis (Dobra) 1730-B XF (Engraved Devices), Bahia mint, KM141 (Rare), LMB-101, Guimaraes-1730-1a. Second shield. Fleur-de-Lis over diagonal edge. 28.15gm. Another survivor from the fleeting issue of the Bahia mint. Though the grade qualifier was engraved devices, we do not see evidence of such, but only some smoothing of old scratches, which would qualify as altered surfaces. Exhibiting muted sun-golden surfaces with soundly struck motifs, this scarce issue has an imposing flan with the old diagonal edge partially visible under the Fleur-de-Lis design.
