Description

João V gold 6400 Reis (Peça) 1743-B AU58 NGC, Bahia mint, KM151, LMB-143, Guimaraes-1743-2.2. Fourth shield. No dot after mintmark variety. A shadow of a dot can be seen on the example offered, though clearly an element erased from the die for unknown reasons. All the examples we have managed to locate have clear and crisp dots, leading us to believe this is likely the no dot variety described by Guimaraes. A borderline Mint State piece, showcasing boldly rendered motifs and antique-gold surfaces.
