    Description

Pedro I 960 Reis 1827R struck over Minas C/S, KM368.1, Russo 508B, XF45 NGC. Key date of the first empire 960's beautifully restruck over a Hispanic 8 Reales (probably Potosi) with a clearly visible Minas counterstamp. The Rio mint struck very few 960's in 1827 stopping production all together in the early months of that year and not resuming minting of the type with a totally redesigned coin in 1832.
