    Pedro II quintet lot of Coronation Medals 1842, VC-34, Meili-20. Obv. bust of Pedro II facing left. Rev. an Indian chief crowning the new Emperor. Struck to commemorate the coronation of Pedro II described as follows in Cavalcanti: "The coronation ceremony of H. M. Pedro II took place in the Imperial Chapel on July 18, 1841 with archbishop of Bahia D. Romualdo Antonio de Seixas - later Marchis of Sta Cruz- officiating". Engraved by Azevedo. Five different varieties as follows: struck in silver (XF, 102.2 grams), silver (Mint State, 83.6 grams), copper (good XF, 83.4 grams), nickel (About Uncirculated, 96.02 grams) and lead (VF, 91.98 grams) respectively. A rare group that would be most difficult to replicate.
