Description
João Prince Regent 960 Reis 1818-R AU53 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM326.1, LMB-428a. Shield obverse type. Overstruck on a Joseph Napoleon 5 Pesetas 1811 from Barcelona (cf. KM69). A very scarce host coin for this commonly overstruck series, and only the second 960 Reis of João we have been able to locate overstruck on a Barcelona 5 Pesetas--the other, a wreath type, graded AU Details and brought $1762 in our January 2016 NYINC sale.Metal: Silver
