Description

João VI 37-1/2 Reis 1821-M VF Details (Surfaces Smoothed) PCGS, Minas Gerais mint, KM317.1, LMB-551.

The "gold Vintém" was created due to a lack of a smaller denomination which could facilitate the exchange of gold dust, leading the Portuguese crown to come up with a solution: a coin worth 1/32 of the period gold ounce, therefore minimizing the tax evasion due to a lack of change during tax collection.

Metal: Copper
