    Description

Edward VII copper-nickel Specimen Heavy Pattern Penny 1906 SP63 NGC, Royal mint, FT-24, KM-Pn2. Struck on a heavier weight standard (11.3 gm). In the words of the collector, "excessively rare and the nicest example in private hands." The only other example that we could trace that has sold in the last decade was the Diana Collection specimen (Baldwin's 58, 24 September 2008, lot 1363), which hammered at 2,800 GBP, or about $5,200 at the time. In that catalog description, it was noted that "the only other example known is in the British Museum." The current piece certainly proves otherwise. Lustrous and problem-free, this is an exciting opportunity to acquire an exceptional pattern.
