    Description

George V tin-brass Shilling 1920-G MS66 NGC, Gaunt & Sons mint, FT51, KM12a. From the collector: "Believed to be finest known example. Ex R.J. Ford collection.  Extremely rare." Indeed, the collector seems to be absolutely correct that this is the finest known example; comparing it to the Diana and Arielle Collection examples, this is far and away the superior piece. Though the standard numismatic lexicon does not possess monikers to qualitatively describe the surface of this coin because of its somewhat unusual composition (such as "Red" to describe a copper coin), it certainly seems to have wholly original surfaces, and probably appears more or less the same as it did the day it left the mint. Wonderfully lustrous and a true stunning; it would without a doubt be one of the centerpieces of any British West Africa collection.
