Description

Scarce 1914/3 Overdate Buffalo Nickel MS63

1914/3 5C MS63 ANACS. FS-014.87. This is a high-end example of the scarce 1914/3 overdate variety. The Guide Book of Buffalo and Jefferson nickels, by Q. David Bowers, gives an estimate of 220,000 to 330,000 pieces produced for this variety, based upon the hypothesis that either two or three different obverse dies were used to make them, with an average of approximately 109,000 coins coming from each die. Well struck and carefully preserved, with strong satin luster and variegated, iridescent toning on both sides, this example would make a fine addition to the cabinet of any Buffalo nickel collector. (Registry values: P3)
