Description

Well-Struck 1916 Nickel, MS67

1916 5C MS67 PCGS. Despite improvements to the hub for this year to reduce design deficiencies as well as a relatively high mintage, finding a well struck 1916 nickel can be a challenge. Happily, this is a bright, frosted coin that shows complete striking details on each side. Exceptionally clean, as one would expect from an MS67, this is a wonderful example of this early Buffalo nickel.
A review of the PCGS Population Report indicates that only 10 examples have been certified at the MS67 level (11/08), with none finer. More noteworthy is the fact that the population has remained nearly unchanged since 2003, with only one MS67 example being certified by PCGS since that time.
