Description

1916-S MS 64. A major strike rarity, this is an important offering for the specialist in this intriguing series. While most '16-S nickels are usually found with weakly defined striking details, this piece is fully struck in all areas. The surfaces are uncommonly clean for a coin of this grade with no obvious impairments on either side. We are tempted to call this a brilliant coin, and indeed it does present as such, but there is just the slightest bit of light golden patina around the rims on each side. Struck from clashed dies, as is often the case.
