1917-D 5C MS65 NGC. This Gem 1917-D nickel shows a few indications of isolated strike weakness but is certainly more boldly detailed than many of its counterparts from this poorly produced issue. Shining luster and multicolored pastel iridescence near the peripheries elevates the eye appeal. Well-preserved and free of distracting marks. Census: 51 in 65, 7 finer (2/16).Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2007), lot 2262.
