    Description

    1918/7-D Nickel, AU58
    Early Die State

1918/7-D 5C AU58 PCGS. FS-101. From an early die state, this example shows bold overdate features, the designer's initial that actually looks like an F, rather than a P as on later states, and little evidence of the diagnostic die crack. Although the central design features are flat, the peripheral elements are sharp, including a full tail on the bison's hind quarter.
Each side exhibits a trace of high point wear as expected at the near-Mint grade level. The surfaces are virtually mark-free, with nearly full cartwheel luster on the nickel-gray surfaces, and hints of golden overtones. Population: 25 in 58 (1 in 58+), 46 finer (6/12).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 22RJ, PCGS# 3939)
