    Description

    Lustrous AU58 Overdate Nickel

1918/7-D 5C AU58 PCGS. This re-hubbed obverse wasn't discovered until 1931, and by then most overdate nickels had slipped into circulation. High grade examples are quite elusive. This is a well detailed example that shows just the slightest bit of friction over the highpoints. The underdigit is quite strong, and the surfaces overall are noticeably clean with the only mentionable flaw being a shallow planchet crack in the Indian's hair above the knot in the braid. Almost all the original mint luster remains and the surfaces are bright with just the slightest hint of gray-golden patina present. An excellent value at this grade level. Population: 16 in 58, 39 finer (8/03). (NGC ID# 22RJ, PCGS# 3939)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
