Description

1918/7-D Buffalo Nickel, MS62
Popular Guide Book Overdate

1918/7-D 5C FS-101 MS62 NGC. An impressive MS62 representative of this popular wartime hubbing error, listed in the Guide Book and Cherrypickers' Guide. The 1918/7-D has been a sought-after key to the series ever since its discovery in 1931. Most examples seen are in the VG-Fine grade range, and Mint State specimens are definitely elusive.

This attractive MS62 specimen offers well-detailed design elements, with just a touch of the usual softness on the hair above the braid and the bison's shoulder. The lightly marked surfaces display highlights of ice-blue, lavender, and sea-green toning, with satiny mint luster underneath. Census: 14 in 62, 24 finer (1/20).
