    Description

    1918/7-D Nickel, Lustrous MS62
    Scarce Overdate Issue, FS-101

1918/7-D 5C FS-101 MS62 NGC. Struck from an advanced state of the dies, a characteristic die crack from just above the braid knot reaches nearly to the Indian's mouth and metal flow lines appear on the borders. Even so, this example of the famous Denver overdate is thoroughly sharp and attractive. Exceptional definition for the variety graces the central motifs on both sides. Reddish-orange mint luster glows from beneath olive-gray and blue overtones to create a rich patina that the variety seldom offers.

Attractive 1918/7-D examples are coveted by nickel specialists in all grades. Those with significant eye appeal (like the present coin) are especially rare when in Mint State, and therefore always in demand. Based on the infrequent appearance of Uncirculated pieces in our auctions, it may be many years before we offer another 1918/7-D Buffalo with this much eye appeal for the assigned grade. Census: 16 in 62, 23 finer (2/16). (NGC ID# 22RJ, Variety PCGS# 38446, Base PCGS# 3939)

    Weight: 5.00 grams

    Metal: 75% Copper, 25% Nickel
