Description
Border-Toned Gem 1918-S Nickel
1918-S 5C MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1918-S nickel is a rarity in Gem condition, and PCGS has certified just one numerically finer example (9/11). To make this coin's Registry-worthy status all the more impressive, it is housed in a green label holder (which also bears a richly deserved CAC sticker). Toning appears mainly at the borders, where gold and apricot hues extend slightly into the fields, while the interiors are mainly pale gray with perhaps a hint of blue. Decently if not exactingly struck and a great representative of a San Francisco issue that is seldom found so fine.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RK, PCGS# 3940, Greysheet# 3117)
Weight: 5.00 grams
