Description

Near-Gem 1919-D Buffalo Nickel

1919-D 5C MS64 PCGS. The 1919-D is a challenging (and challenged) issue, one that is seldom seen with attractive toning and a sharp strike. The present piece is lustrous throughout, although it is below-par in terms of the series if not the issue. The strike is somewhat indistinct, as usually seen; although the hindquarters of the buffalo are fairly sharp, the head and horn are not. Appealing amber-gold peripheral toning appears on the obverse.(Registry values: N1793)
