Description

1919-D Nickel, MS66
An Above-Average Strike

1919-D 5C MS66 PCGS. The 1919-D saw a large fairly large mintage exceeding 8 million pieces. It can be located through near-Gem with relatively little trouble. Gems are scarce, and Premium Gems are the finest known; PCGS and NGC have graded 23 examples in MS66. This issue is very difficult to find decently struck.

Lustrous surfaces exhibit a light golden-lilac color and the design features are strongly impressed, including the Indian's braid and the bison's horn and tail. Two minute marks on the obverse rim above the R in LIBERTY will help pedigree the coin. Population: 19 in 66, 0 finer (3/14).(Registry values: N4719)
