1919-S 5C MS65+ PCGS. CAC....
Description
1919-S Buffalo Nickel, MS65+
Well Struck and Pristine
Near the Condition Census
1919-S 5C MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Circulated examples of this San
Francisco issue are often available, even in low grades with
partial dates. Mint State pieces are plentiful in their own
capacity as fine as MS65, but in MS65 they become notably scarce,
with merely a handful of pieces known finer. This high-end Gem,
boasting CAC endorsement, stands just shy of the Condition Census
and would make an ideal Registry Set candidate. Subtle iridescence
adorns the luminous fields and devices, while neither side exhibits
bothersome abrasions. The obverse is struck from a fresh die with
bold definition and no clashing or significant metal flow. On the
reverse, substantial metal flow appears in the margins, and the
details of the bison are softened by die erosion. This "two-faced"
die state is a typical sight on branch mint Buffalo nickels of this
period. Population: 48 in 65 (7 in 65+), 4 finer. CAC: 11 in 65, 1
finer (8/25).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RN, PCGS# 3943, Greysheet# 3119)
