Description

1920-D Buffalo Nickel, MS65+
Few Known So Fine

1920-D 5C MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Pale blue covers the portrait, giving way to darker tones before exiting the rim with a yellow-brown color. There are a few ticks in the center, and the surfaces at the periphery are smooth. Gold graces the high points of the reverse.

The 1920-D Buffalo nickel is a difficult issue to find well-struck, as the present example indicates by its central softness, but is also scarce in Gem condition. This Plus-designated example will excite the Registry collector, as numerically finer representatives are extremely rare. Population: 74 in 65 (4 in 65+), 3 finer (1/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RR, PCGS# 3945, Greysheet# 3120)
