Description

Attractive 1921-S Buffalo, MS64

1921-S 5C MS64 ANACS. The 1921-S is among the most difficult Buffalo nickel issues. It is a strike rarity, as with many other mintmarked nickels from 1917-26. The challenge of finding a pleasing piece is often compounded by surface problems such as planchet flaws, die cracks, grease stains, and heavy metal flow--all the result of hurried planchet preparation in the Mint. This coin is refreshingly free from any of those planchet problems. It is also better struck than other examples we have seen of this issue. Both sides are toned a pleasing lilac-rose coloration with bright underlying mint frost. A very attractive example of this scarce issue. In an old ANA cache holder.(Registry values: N2998)
