Description

1923-S Buffalo Nickel, MS65
Conditionally Rare in Higher Grades

1923-S 5C MS65 PCGS. CAC. From a mintage of 6.1 million pieces, the 1923-S Buffalo nickel is an available issue in circulated grades, but Mint State examples are scarce. The 1923-S is a prime condition rarity in grades above the Gem level. Like most examples seen, this coin exhibits sharply detailed design elements, with just a touch of softness on the hair above the braid. Vibrant satiny mint luster radiates from the well-preserved surfaces on both sides, and no mentionable distractions are evident. Accents of ice-blue and pale gold toning add to the outstanding eye appeal. Population: 44 in 65 (2 in 65+), 3 finer (1/14).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RW, PCGS# 3950, Greysheet# 3123)
