Description

1923-S Nickel, MS65
Rarely Seen Finer

1923-S 5C MS65 PCGS. CAC. David Lange notes in The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels that despite its relatively small mintage (6.14 million pieces), the 1923-S nickel is available in all grades short of Gem. Population data supports this claim, as PCGS has certified only 44 coins in MS65, with just three numerically finer (3/14). This Gem specimen displays light golden-gray color over satiny surfaces. The design elements are better-struck than usually seen on this issue, though minor softness in seen in portions of the hair on the bison's head.
