Description
Bright, Lustrous MS65 1924-S Nickel
A Series Key With Only 1.4 Million Pieces Struck
1924-S 5C MS65 PCGS. Ex: ADM Collection. Occasionally well
struck 1924-S nickels can be found, but the scarcity of such coins
is not directly related to poor production methods in the mint.
Rather, it is related to the absolute rarity of this issue in all
grades. Only 1.4 million pieces were struck, which leaves few coins
extant today with a strong strike, weak strike, VF condition, MS60,
or MS65 condition. This piece has a bright, satiny finish that is
overlaid with rich golden-rose and lilac toning. The reverse can be
termed fully struck, but there is a bit of the expected softness on
the Indian's braid on the obverse. Population: 32 in 65, 1 finer
(8/07).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22RZ, PCGS# 3953, GSID# 3125)
