1925-S 5C MS65+ PCGS. CAC....
Description
1925-S Buffalo Nickel, MS65+
Simply Exceptional for the Grade
1925-S 5C MS65+ PCGS. CAC. The 1925-S is notorious for weak
strikes from worn dies, and as such it is also incredibly difficult
to locate in Gem or better grades. Any MS65 coin is scarce, and
pieces in MS65+ or finer are decidedly rare. Moreover, only a dozen
Gems overall are CAC endorsed, with no higher-grade pieces boasting
that distinction. Thus, the current MS65+ PCGS CAC coin will be a
strong Registry candidate. Indeed, one is hard-pressed to locate
obvious flaws in the coin's condition. The obverse, in keeping with the 1925-S nickel's tradition, shows soft definition due in part to die wear, and while heavy metal flow is yet to emerge, prominent clash marks are visible beneath the Indian's jaw in the field. On the reverse, slight strike softness appears on the bison's shoulder only, and the fields are entirely devoid of any symptoms of die erosion. Both sides are luminous and lustrous with iridescent toning. Population: 89 in 65 (9 in 65+), 2 finer. CAC: 12 in 65, 0 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N7079)
