Conditionally Rare 1926-D Buffalo Nickel, MS66

1926-D 5C MS66 PCGS. While the 1926-D is not as rare in Mint State as the 1925-D, it is equally as difficult to find sharply defined. Both dates are strike rarities on par with such earlier branch mint issues as the 1919-D, 1919-S, and 1920-S. This lovely '26-D is not only boldly, if not sharply struck throughout, but it possesses smooth surfaces that are free of outwardly distracting blemishes. The full horn and split tail on the bison are particularly noteworthy, but shimmering mint luster is another feature that accounts for the superior technical quality. The originally preserved surfaces are awash in light golden-gray patina. Population: 18 in 66, 1 finer (4/06).(Registry values: N4719)
